In today’s post I’m going to be sharing with you my current drugstore base makeup routine. I’ve used these products together for the past 2 or 3 months and absolutely love the combination. I have listed all the products in order of when I use them.
The very first step to anyone’s makeup routine should be moisturiser. But because I love dew and looking like a disco ball, I mix the MUA Liquid Highlight into my everyday moisturiser. This just ensures I’ll be glowing in the sunlight. The product is very light weight and unlike some highlighters that look more shimmery and overwhelming, this liquid highlight gives the skin a healthy glow. These highlight drops are also a good dupe for the Iconic London Illuminating drops, which is over 5x the price. Before we move on to the next product, can we also take a moment to appreciate the beautiful packaging!
Next step, primer. I’ve been loving the Revolution Pro Prime & Hydrate primer. This primer is beautiful for hydrating the skin. It is very lightweight and adds a slight ‘shine’ to the skin. It also smells incredibly. This primer has a slight coconut scent, which smells amazing! Including this product in my drugstore base makeup routine ensures my makeup lasts for the period of time I wear it.
This foundation comes in sooo many shades; I’d be surprised if you can’t find your match. It is very light, it feels as though you aren’t wearing foundation, its amazing! If you’re a matte foundation fan, this is the one for you. Unlike some foundations that claim to be matte, it doesn’t cling to any of my dry spots and doesn’t make me look cakey. Although I claim to love a bit of dew, I do also love matte. In order to allow the glow from the previous products to shine trough this full-coverage matte foundation, I apply a thin layer of foundation.
After foundation, it’s time for concealer. Before Maybelline extended their shade range, I had heard tons of people raving about this concealer. When I had heard they had extended their shade range I knew I had to try it out. Let’s talk about the applicator. The sponge tip applicator isn’t the most hygienic, but applies the concealer evenly on the skin. Although this product has a liquid formula and is very thin, it is super pigmented. Due to the thin texture, this concealer blends perfectly.
So I may be breaking the rules here. I’m not entirely sure whether this is drugstore or not, but it’s the powder I use every day. This powder is amazing! It is perfect for anyone of any shade. It doesn’t cause flashback and brightens the skin perfectly. On an everyday basis I will just use this powder all over my face, dusting it on with a powder brush. On a night out packing this product under the eye, setting your concealer, brightens the under eye and makes it look flawless. This is the final, and most likely most important, step to this drugstore base makeup routine, as without setting your makeup, you could encounter creasing! Furthermore, the RCMA powder lasts a VERY long time. I’ve had this powder since March 2018, and it’s still going strong, with over half the powder left.
I really hope you enjoyed this post. If you use any of these drugstore base makeup products let me know how you find them. If you have any products that you reckon I’d love based on these products don’t be afraid to tell me! x
